5 Yoga Asanas For Menstruation

Most of the women face menstrual problems at least once in a life time - the pain , the cramps and the discomfort. Yoga Practice can be useful to help alleviate any period pain or back pain, balance the emotions :mood swings,anxiety,anger,depression,irritability and gentle open the pelvic region,relieving any congestion.

Some asanas are recommended for helping the nervous system, relieve low-back pain,calm your emotions and remove other menstrual discomforts.

The most popular schools avoid advertising inversion poses. But my teacher came with strong arguments, explaining that, the direction of the uterus is reversed and the sublimation of the period occurs. Reverse asanas are most helpful to perform just before the onset of the menstrual flow. And it's important to note a woman should never overexert herself.

The inversions are recommended in some systems of yoga as therapy to improve elimination of excess apana. In Yoga: The Path to Holistic Health, B.K.S. Iyengar recommends practicing in inversions to alleviate menstrual problems such as heavy flow and irregular periods

 

 

Regular practice of the above mentioned yoga postures will help you to treat menstruation problems.

Remember a  woman should not push herself to the level of discomfort during her period as at this time she needs adequate rest.
